10 Health issues of smoking

        Smoking is not a good habit to keep. People in the world start smoking for a variety of reasons and they often become a habit. Some think smoking gives a bold look, other smoke imitating their family, friends, etc, and many of them smoke as a passion. At first, they never expected to become addicted. But, the smoking habit is very hard to break because cigarettes contain an addictive chemical called nicotine. Every year, increase number of youths who smoke is more than that adult across the world. The report also says that smoking is likely to rise among teenage females in India. In another report, 1 of every 5 deaths in the United States is linked to cigarette smoking.

         Here are some health issues about smoking:-

1. SMOKING CAN CAUSE CANCER:

         Cigarette smoke contains cancer-causing carcinogens including cyanide, formaldehyde, benzene, and ammonia. Every time you smoke these toxic chemicals pass into your lungs, then into your bloodstream, where they spread to other organs in your body. It will damage the healthy cells in your body and further your damage cells create new unhealthy cells which grow out of control and spread to other parts of your body. As a result of it, you can suffer from various types of cancers including lungs, blood, bone marrow, mouth, throat, stomach, kidney, uterus, cervix, etc.

2. INCREASE CARDIOVASCULAR PROBLEMS:

          Nicotine and carbon monoxide from the cigarette can damage the lining of the inner walls in your arteries. This enables the fatty deposit in the injury site and makes the arteries narrow. Due to this, blood flow in the heart will severely reduce thereby increase the risk for a heart attack. Nicotine can also stimulate the release of epinephrine hormone that raises the blood pressure.

3. LUNGS DISEASES:

          Smoking damages your bronchial tubes and small alveoli. Because of alveoli damage, the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide with the blood become harder. As a result it, your body will not get the oxygen it needs and you can have trouble breathing. Cigarette smoke also slows down the movement of cilia which enable some smoke to store in the lungs. This cause a smoker cough repeatedly to expel the smoke from the lungs.

4. HIGHER RISK OF DIABETES:

          The level of sugar in your is maintained by a hormone called insulin. If you smoke, the production of insulin will severely decrease and on the other side, the level of sugar in your blood will increase. As a result of it, you can suffer from type 2 diabetes.

5. INFERTILITY:

          The problem of infertility will increase in both men and women with smoking. Smoking is more dangerous to pregnant women because the poisonous chemicals present in the smoke can affect the baby causing a greater risk of low birth weight, infant death, etc. Nicotine can also pass from breastfeeding mother to child. This often makes the child vomiting, diarrhoea, rapid heartbeat, etc.

6. WRINKLE SKIN:

          The amount of blood supply to the skin will reduce if you smoke. As a result of this, your skin will often become dry and occur premature ageing of the skin. This makes your skin wrinkle and make you look older. Studies also found that people who smoke typically die at an earlier age than non-smokers.

7. VISION PROBLEM:

          Smoking decrease the health of an eye. So eye health problems like poor Vision, cataracts, glaucoma, muscular degeneration, etc can occur in future.

8. CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING:

          Cigarette smoke contains poisonous gases like carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, etc. Smoking will increase the level of carbon monoxide in the blood which can contaminate in the blood-forming carboxyhaemoglobin. Due to this, you can suffer from dizziness, tiredness, unconscious, etc.

9. EFFECT IMMUNE SYSTEM:

          The harmful chemicals present in cigarette smoke damage the healthy cells. This effect the immune system in the body and cause immune system dysfunction. An unhealthy immune is not effective for fighting diseases and many other health issues like low bone density, delayed in wound healing, tooth loss, can arise.

10. SEXUAL PROBLEM:

          Problems such as erectile dysfunction and impotence can occur in men because nicotine present in cigarette smoke hinder the blood flow in the male reproductive organ. This reduces the sexual performance in men. Smoking reduces sexual satisfaction in women due to the decrease in lubrication and inability to reach orgasm.
