Hair is technically a part of the skin, although it grows and separates from the skin. The average head contains around 100,000 hair. Hair loss is a normal thing for every person. It happens on daily basis and is hardly noticeable. The normal hair loss lies between 50-100 a day. This lost hair is again replaced with new hair. But if the amount of hair loss is above the normal level and not replacing again then, it becomes a matter of concern.
People rarely pay attention to their hair when it starts to fall out. They also take their hair for granted as long as they have them. But when they lose their hair permanently from them they bring the matter in concern. Hair loss can be noticed from hair thinning and baldness.
CAUSE OF HAIR LOSS:
There are many possible reasons for an individual person’s hair loss including genetics hair loss inherited from parents, diseases, certain medications and supplements, reaction to severe stress, etc. Hair loss also occurs with excessive blood circulation, inadequate blood circulation in the scalp, wearing hats, turban, brushing the hair too much, nutritional deficiency and several others.
The most common cause of hair loss is the hereditary-pattern baldness. Pattern hair loss occurs when the normal cycle of hair growth changes. Baldness in men falls into this genetic category. It usually occurs in a predictable pattern and gradually with ageing. It is also true that males pattern baldness is likely to occur than females pattern baldness.
This is the second most common cause of hair loss. Alopecia is the autoimmune disorder disease caused due to the attack of the hair follicle by white blood cells. It develops some small patchy bald on the scalp that persists for several months. Alopecia is a temporary hair loss and it can be regrown.
Some of the diseases that lead to temporary hair loss include thyroid, endocrine gland disorders, skin diseases, fungal and bacterial infection on the scalp such as ringworm, folliculitis, etc.
Pregnancy increase the production of sex hormone estrogen that prolongs the hair growth cycle but the amount of estrogen production severely drop just after the baby is born. As a result of it, more hair lapse into the resting phase and the growing hair may fall out. Because the resting cycle lasts for two to six months.
5. EXPOSURE TO RADIATION:
The amount of hair will drastically loss when the scalp is exposed to radiation. Because the radiation shut down the actively producing hair follicles. This type of hair loss is mostly found in cancer treatment. Radiation hair loss is temporary, they used to grow three to four months after exposure.
6. MECHANICAL CAUSES:
Mechanical cause of hair loss is from external forces such as tight braiding, rubber banding, turbans, or other hair torture devices that put stress and strain on hair.
Severe emotional stress including death or illness of family members, marriage, divorce and job loss or jobless can also cause hair loss. Because severe stress can cause actively growing hair follicles to prematurely shift to resting phase. As a result of it, the hairs fall out easily. Stress also can lead to a limited number of the hair growth cycle and have the chance of losing hair permanently after a person reaches fifty years.
8. LACK OF NUTRITION:
Hair needs nutrients like proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc, fatty acids etc to grow properly. Lack of nutrition will cause proteins, vitamins deficiency which result in consistent hair fall.

Cosmetic hair loss treatment is used only as a temporary solution. It affects only in the user’s appearance, not in the functioning and structure of the living cells. Some of the methods include haircut or saving of hair, using hair care products like shampoos and conditioners and use of hairpieces devices.
Several Doctors suggest that finasteride is the single and most effective medication to defend against hair loss in man. It is not prescribed to pregnant women as it has side effects on them. For women, high-estrogen oral contraceptive and Aldactone are the best medication for hair loss.
3. HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGERY:
Hair transplant surgery is the best among all the treatments for hair loss. People with permanent hair loss can restore their hair with this treatment.
